Equality Australia (EA) is the leading national organisation dedicated to achieving LGBTIQ+ equality. In FY25, Perpetual provided funding to support EA’s core operations. Equality Australia is committed to creating a fair and inclusive Australia for LGBTIQ+ people, their families and communities by driving and safeguarding legal and social change.
In FY2025, Equality Australia’s impact included:
- The inclusion of LGBTQ+ questions in the 2026 Census,
- New laws banning conversion practices coming into effect in NSW and South Australia,
- The first ever protections against LGBTIQ+ hate speech in in Victoria,
- Trans and gender diverse people can now update their birth certificates without the need for surgery in all states and territories, and
- Polling which found most Australians stridently oppose discrimination against the LGBT community and believe trans people should have the same rights and protections as everyone else.
