The Invictus Games is coming to Sydney! From 20-27 October, Sydney will host 500 competitors from 18 nations and over 1,000 of their family members and friends.
The Invictus Games is an international adaptive sporting event for wounded, injured and ill service men and women, both active duty and veteran. The Games use the healing power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and celebrate the crucial role played by family and friends.
In this video, Perpetual sits down with Australian Army veteran and Invictus Games London 2014 gold medallist, Adrian Talbot, to talk about what the Invictus Games mean to him.
Adrian is a strong advocate for veteran support services, suggesting the services available here are some of the best in the world. He has benefited from their assistance in his own recovery and now works for Homes for Heroes and is an ambassador for Clubs NSW.
The Invictus Games is all about supporting our service men, women and veterans and what Adrian makes clear is that the Games are also about recognising the crucial role played by family members, friends and partners and the sacrifices they make as the loved ones of service personnel.
So come on Australia, let’s support our wounded warriors by cheering loud when they hit the pool, field and track for Invictus Games Sydney 2018.
