To broaden our asset management capabilities and provide access to international clients, Perpetual formed a highly experienced global equity team in 2004 - PI Investment Management Limited (PIIML). 

PI Investment Management Limited (PIIML), a global equities firm based in Dublin, was established in September 2004 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Perpetual Limited (Perpetual). The Company received its IFSRA regulatory licence in February 2005 and began managing client portfolios in March 2005.

Our global equity team's investment philosophy is a fundamental, conservative bottom-up approach to stock picking, focusing on quality (strong balance sheets, earnings visibility and competitive businesses) and value. PIIML is an active global investor, with a long-term, pure investment approach, focusing on quality companies with attractive valuations.

PIIML’s global equity portfolio

• Typically holds between 70 and 90 stocks
• Has a mid-to large-cap bias (companies with a market cap in excess of US$2 billion in free-float)
• Employs a bottom-up approach to stock selection - does not allocate top-down by country or sector
• Is benchmark independent – does not take positions in companies on the basis of their weighting in the benchmark
• Invests in high-quality companies with strong franchises
• Has a bias toward companies with a high return on equity, clean balance sheet and a track record of earnings
• Typically has a lower P/E than the market
• Typically has a higher dividend yield than the market
• Is expected to have lower volatility than the market over 3 to 5 years
• Holds stocks on average for 3 to 5 years
