Putting together a direct mail pack
Planning your mailing
Before you put the mailing pack together it’s important to check a few things to ensure it’s the right time for the mailing:
- How many appointments can the Accountants in your practice and the Perpetual adviser handle? Check who will be in the office over the next few months and have their diaries available so you can easily book in appointments.
- How many clients should you mail to generate these appointments? It’s hard to predict how many clients will request an appointment, but a good guide is 5%-20%. So if you mail 50 letters you might generate 3-10 appointments (more on how to improve your results on the next page). We suggest you mail letters over a set timeframe, for example 50 letters per week for one month.
- Set aside time in your diary to make follow-up calls to clients – as these are essential to maximise your results.
What goes in the envelope
Letter templates
Four letter templates written for broad client segments, that you can transfer to your company’s letterhead. The letters will need to be folded in thirds, with the address panel at top – so it shows through the window-faced envelope.

Perpetual Private Clients brochures
The brochures promote the benefits of Perpetual Private Clients to your clients and detail what we can offer. The brochures have been developed for each client segment and are designed to accompany the letter, so don’t forget to slip the right brochure in behind the letter.
For more brochures simply call Perpetual Private Clients on 1800 631 381.
Future mailings
As changes occur in the market (such as Federal Budget announcements and legislative changes) Perpetual will add more direct mail client segments and templates to this site, to help you tell your clients about new opportunities.
These will help you service your client’s needs over the long term and is an example of how direct marketing allows you to personalise your message to different segments of your client base as markets change and opportunities arise.
