Scholarships

The Helen Lempriere bequest supports two separate scholarships.

The Helen Lempriere Scholarships

The Helen Lempriere Scholarships foster and promote contemporary Australian sculpture.

These provide annual scholarships to advance artists' careers through study or research and are awarded in partnership with Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi. This is the world's largest annual free outdoor sculpture exhibition that runs for three weeks each year.

The Scholarships are open to all Australian sculptors who enter Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, with each scholarship currently worth $30,000.

More information, including how to apply, can be found on the Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi website.

The Helen Lempriere Travelling Art Scholarship

The Helen Lempriere Travelling Art Scholarship is an annual scholarship of $60,000 offered by the NSW Government through Arts NSW with the support of the Helen Lempriere Bequest.

The Scholarship enables a NSW visual artist at the beginning of their career to undertake a program of professional development for one to two years.

The key focus of the program must be international but may also include national activities. Some of the activities eligible under the program include short-term courses and training, residencies, internships and mentorships with recognised professional artists and institutions.

More information, including how to apply for the Helen Lempriere Travelling Art Scholarship, can be found on the Arts NSW website.
