Federal Budget 2010/11

The 2010/11 Federal Budget is a conservative one, with the underlying motivation to bring the budget back into surplus in the 2012/13 financial year - three years earlier than previously forecast.

While many of the announcements were confirmations of those made in response to the Henry Tax Review, there were some sweeteners such as concessions to interest income, and easing the burden that can accompany the lodgement of tax returns. The losers remain the mining sector, and some would argue the economy, as a result of the potential flow-on effect of the ‘super profits tax’.
