2007 Ramaciotti Award recipients
Ramaciotti GrantsSince 1971, the Ramaciotti Grants (General Awards) have honoured groups or individuals in universities, public hospitals or institutes undertaking biomedical research. Approximately 30 grants of up to $30,000 are awarded each year in two divisions – establishment and equipment. Establishment grants provide financial support for young researchers, while equipment grants go towards the purchase of a major piece of equipment.
Grants are awarded by Perpetual (the Foundations’ trustee) on the recommendation of a Scientific Advisory Committee. See the application guidelines for full criteria.
Ramaciotti Medal is an annual award of $50,000. It was introduced in 1995 by Perpetual to recognise excellence in Australian biomedical research by honouring an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in the field or related medicine/healthcare. To win the Ramaciotti Medal, the individual must have been awarded a grant from the Foundation before and prove major medical advances in Australia that have positively impacted patient treatment as a direct result of that grant. The applicant must be peer nominated and the winner is then selected by Perpetual with the help ofthe Ramaciotti Foundations’ Scientific Advisory Committee. See the application guidelines for full criteria.
Ramaciotti Research AwardThis award is a $1 million grant awarded biannually to a group or individual undertaking biomedical research within universities, public hospitals, medical research institutes or other similar organisations. The award funds projects including personnel, equipment, major infrastructure improvements or new laboratories that help an existing, well-funded program of research or enable a major new program to begin. The Ramaciotti Foundations’ Scientific Advisory Committee helps Perpetual select the winner from nominations received. Previous Ramaciotti Research Award winners |
