Matt Williams Head of Equities/Senior Portfolio Manager, BEc

Matt is Head of Equities and responsible for the strategic direction of the equities business and oversight of all investment strategies. He also provides support and mentoring to the analysts and portfolio managers in the team. Matt is the Portfolio Manager for the Australian Share strategy, the Pure Value Share strategy and 50% of the Industrial Share strategy. In the past he has managed the Smaller Companies strategy.

Matt joined Perpetual Investments in August 1993 as an Equities Dealer, before becoming an Analyst in 1997 and Portfolio Manager in 1998.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Matt worked as a Board Broker on the Australian Option Market and as a Cash/Bills Dealer at Lumley Corporation.

Matt has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New England.
Charlie Lanchester Deputy Head of Equities / Senior Portfolio Manager / Analyst, BA (Hons), ASIP

Charlie is the Portfolio manager for 50% of the Industrial Share strategy and 100% of the Australian Sustainability strategy. He also analyses a small number of stocks in the healthcare and gaming sectors.

Charlie joined Perpetual Investments in May 1999 as an Analyst covering a broad range of sectors, and assumed portfolio management responsibilities from 2002.

Charlie began his career as a Graduate Trainee at Schroder Investment Management in London. After five years he relocated to Australia and joined Platinum Asset Management as an Analyst focusing on global telecommunication companies.

Charlie studied modern history at New College, Oxford and has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours). He is also an Associate of the Society of Investment Professional (part of the CFA).

James Bruce Portfolio Manager/Analyst, BEng Mining (Hons), BEng Mining (Hons), MBA

Years at Perpetual: 9

James is the Portfolio Manager for the Global Resources strategy and the resources component of the Smaller Companies strategy. He also manages a team of two specialist resources analysts who alongside him are responsible for recommending resource stocks for all of the investment strategies that have resources exposure. James covers coal, uranium, diversified metals and mining, steel and service companies on a global basis.

James joined Perpetual Investments in March 2002 as a resource Analyst, gaining portfolio management experience from late 2003.

Prior to joining Perpetual, James had eight years of practical experience in the resources industry. He began his career as a Mine Engineer, spending two years with National Mine Management, Kalgoorlie, WA, gaining experience in underground mining operations and mine management.

He then spent five years with WMC Resources, Kambalda, WA in mine management and financial control roles and one year with New Hampton Goldfields, Melbourne as a financial analyst. This practical resources industry experience is an advantage in his current role of analysing resource companies.

James has a Bachelor of Engineering Mining (Honours) from the Kalgoorlie School of Mines and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia.

Paul Skamvougeras Portfolio Manager, BEc, CA

Years at Perpetual: 8 (in 2 separate periods)

Paul is the Portfolio Manager for the SHARE-PLUS Long-Short strategy and the Concentrated Equity strategy.

Paul rejoined Perpetual Investments in February 2010 as a Portfolio Manager, having previously spent seven years with Perpetual. He began his career with Perpetual in 1994 in a back office role, moving into a dealing role after three years, working his way up to the Head Dealer role.

Between stints at Perpetual, Paul spent seven years working at CPH/Ellerston Capital, where he had portfolio management responsibilities for an Australian long/short strategy for the first four years and a global long/short strategy for the last three years. Paul also recruited and managed two analysts within his team.

Paul gained international experience, spending 18 months in London, as well as expertise in investing and trading various asset classes ranging from equities, commodities, currencies and fixed interest.

Paul has a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Jack Collopy Portfolio Manager / Analyst, BEc

Jack is the Portfolio Manager of the industrials portion of the Smaller Companies strategy and an Analyst covering small cap industrial companies across a range of sectors.

Jack joined Perpetual in November 2001 as an Investment Administrator and Equity Dealer. After four years moved into an Analyst role, focusing on small cap industrial companies. Jack took on portfolio management responsibilities in June 2010.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Jack gained two years of industry experience, working in London as an Equities Dealer and Investment Administrator at both Salomon Smith Barney and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Jack has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.
Sean Cunningham, BCom, FIA

Sean is currently on sabbatical, returning later this year. Prior to his sabbatical Sean managed the Perpetual Smaller Companies Fund for eight years.

When Sean returns to Perpetual he will work with the product team on a number of product ideas and incubation strategies.

Having been at Perpetual Investments for 18 years, it will be invaluable to have Sean’s vast investment experience back at Perpetual.

Nathan Parkin Portfolio Manager / Analyst, BEc, Grad Dip App Fin

Nathan is the Portfolio Manager for the Ethical SRI strategy and an Analyst, covering mainly small cap industrial companies across a range of sectors.

Nathan rejoined Perpetual in October 2010 as an Analyst, having previously spent six years with Perpetual from 1997 to 2003 in relationship management and business development roles. In July 2011 he took on portfolio management responsibilities.

Nathan has 11 years experience outside of Perpetual, which most recently included a seven-year period with 452 Capital from 2003 to 2010. At 452 Capital he began as a Dealer, and after two years, moved into an Analyst role where he covered industrials, financials and small caps over the next five years. Nathan’s career in financial markets began in 1994 at the Australian Stock Exchange, where he was an Index Analyst.

Nathan has a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University, a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from FINSIA and is a Fellow of FINSIA.
Maryanne Drewe Analyst, BBus

Maryanne is an Analyst, covering mainly large cap companies in the industrials, consumer staples, and consumer discretionary sectors.

Maryanne joined Perpetual Investments in February 2003 as an Analyst, bringing a wealth of experience from almost 20 years in a variety of corporate roles. This background has provided Maryanne with unique insight when analysing companies in her current role.

Maryanne’s corporate experience in mainly small to medium businesses included positions such as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, involving functions across auditing, accounting, strategy, management and general consulting. Among the companies that she worked at were Daniel Chen Group, Young Barnsdall & Joy which spanned retail fashion, manufacturing and accounting services industries.

Maryanne has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology Sydney.

Vince Pezzullo Senior Analyst, BCom

Vince is an Analyst, covering mainly large cap industrial companies, in particular banks, property trusts and telecommunications.

Vince joined Perpetual Investments in July 2007 as an Analyst and since that time has covered the chemicals, diversified financials, banking, telecommunications, building materials and REITS sectors.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Vince was as a senior portfolio manager/analyst in the large cap Australian equites team at Deutsche Asset Management and led the top 100 equities team. In addition, he had stock research responsibilities across a large number of sectors.

Vince was also a portfolio manager for a number of client portfolios and researched international stocks as part of the international equity division State Super (subsequently Deutshce). Prior to this, Vince worked in corporate finance and foreign currency for Monte Paschi Australia Limited.

Vince has a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Economics and Finance from the University of New South Wales.

Garry Laurence Analyst, BCom, LLB

Garry is an Analyst, covering mainly large cap industrial companies, in particular consumer discretionary and financial stocks (outside the large four banks).

Garry joined Perpetual Investments in March 2008 as an Analyst and has covered a broad range of sectors.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Garry had three years with PM Capital as an Analyst covering the financial sector for global and Australian strategies and one year with Commonwealth Securities as an Analyst. While studying, Gary gained experience at Morgan Stanley and Meridian Equities as an Analyst. During this time he covered a broad range of sectors across large and small cap companies, including food and beverage, construction and resources.

Garry has a Bachelor of Commerce and Law from the University of New South Wales.
Rosemary Tan Analyst, BCom (Hons), MCom

Rosemary joined Perpetual Investments in January 2010 as an Analyst, covering mainly small cap industrial companies, in particular telecommunications.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Rosemary spent 2 years at Platinum Asset Management, where she was an Analyst for the Platinum Asia Fund covering stocks across China and Hong Kong. This role made the most of her strong analytical skills and fluency in Mandarin.

Before this Rosemary was an analyst at MMC Asset Management analysing small and mid-cap companies, and also held roles at the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).

Rosemary has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Masters of Commerce (Actuarial Studies).

Andrew Corbett Analyst, BEng Mining (Hons), MBA

Years of experience: 18 (2.5 years in investment industry and 16 years in resources industry)

Andrew joined Perpetual in October 2008 as an Analyst focused on the global resources sector, specifically covering gold, precious metals, pure play metals and service companies from around the world.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Andrew had 16 years of practical experience in the resources industry. The first nine years of his career were spent in Mining Engineer and Mine Manager roles across WA, with Byrnecut Mining (four years), Lionore International (four years) and Normandy Mining (1 year). During this time, he gained experience in underground mining operations and mine management.

Between 2001 and 2008 Andrew worked for Orica Mining Services in a range of business management and product management roles. This involved extensive global experience, covering markets in Australasia, China, Philippines, India, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Andrew has a Bachelor of Engineering Mining (Honours) from Western Australian School of Mines and a Masters of Business Administration from Newcastle University.

Andrew Blakely Analyst, BSc Geology (Hons), MSc Petroleum Geology

Andrew joined Perpetual in September 2008 as an Analyst focused on the global energy sector, specifically covering oil and gas, and service companies from around the world.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Andrew was the Senior Energy Analyst at Macquarie Securities (2004-2008) and the Senior Energy Analyst at JP Morgan (2002 -2004), after relocating from the UK.

Before becoming an equity analyst in Australia, Andrew worked in a variety of energy industry roles from 1991 to 2000. In his most recent role, Andrew spent five years with Global Energy Consultants, Wood Mackenzie (based in Edinburgh), focused on Latin America and West Africa.

Prior to this, Andrew spent a brief period with Tullow Oil, investigating investment opportunities in the Indian sub-continent. Andrew’s first role in the industry was at the well-site with Baker Hughes, primarily drilling wells in Europe and Africa.

Andrew has a Bachelor of Science Geology (Honours) from Queen’s University Belfast and a Masters of Science in Petroleum Geology from University College Dublin.

John (Jack) R. Ryan Equity Portfolio Manager, CFA, MBA

Since the early 1980s, Jack has specialised in identifying stocks of value-oriented companies for client portfolios. His core approaches, known as Value and Equity Income, are employed in the management of clients assets around the world. In 2005, Jack launched a Global Value investment approach. Based in London, Jack participates in a number of investment committees, and his primary focus is managing the Global Value investment approach.

Prior to joining Wellington Management in 1981, Jack held a variety of financial management and administrative positions at Kollmorgen Corporation, a manufacturer of electro-optical equipment (1974 - 1979). He was also employed in the financial management program at General Electric (1971 - 1972).

Jack received his MBA from the University of Virginia (Darden, 1981) and his BS in economics, with honours, from Lehigh University (1971). He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.

Ian R. Link Equity Portfolio Manager/Analyst, CFA, MBA

Ian is an equity portfolio manager on the Value team. He focuses on the technology and media sectors.

Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2006, Ian worked for Deutsche Asset Management in New York where he was the lead portfolio manager for various technology sector funds and manager of a team of globally-based technology analysts (2004 - 2006). Prior to that, Ian worked at Franklin/Templeton as an equity analyst and portfolio manager where he began his career as an equity analyst covering a variety of industries, including media, telecom services, pollution control, utilities, gaming, and lodging (1989 - 2003).

Ian received his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley (1997) and his BA in economics from the University of California, Davis (1989). He is also a CFA charterholder.

Property Portfolios
Anthony Cay Portfolio Manager / Analyst, CFA

Anthony is the Portfolio Manager for the Property Securities strategy and Property Income strategy, as well as an Analyst covering Australian and Asian listed and unlisted property trusts. He also manages an Analyst who is dedicated to the property strategies.

Anthony joined Perpetual in December 1996 as a Trust Officer in the Private Clients business. From 2003 to 2006, Anthony worked as a Quantitative Analyst, running the Passive Property Fund, until it became an active strategy.

In 2006, Anthony transferred into the Equities team as an Analyst, where he covered property trusts, and the healthcare, information technology, consumer discretionary, industrials and financials sectors. In 2008, Anthony became dedicated solely to property, taking on portfolio management responsibilities.

Anthony has a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and is a Certified Financial Analyst.

Orion Jandera Portfolio Senior Analyst, BAppSc (Land Econ)

Orion is a Senior Analyst, specifically focused on the property strategies and covering Australian listed and unlisted property vehicles. She is also involved in the operational aspects of running these strategies.

Orion joined Perpetual Investments in January 2006 as an Analyst in the Direct Property team. In this role she was responsible for establishing and maintaining a range of models which helped analyse and forecast performance of assets and funds. In 2008, Orion joined the broader equities team as an analyst dedicated to property stocks.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Orion held a variety of roles including Property Consultant at Cougar Software, Investment Analyst at DB RREEF - Direct Mandates, Research Manager at DB Real Estate, and Research Analyst at Jones Lang LaSalle.

Orion has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Land Economics) from the University of Technology Sydney.

Michael Blayney Portfolio Manager

Michael is portfolio manager for Perpetual's diversified funds, including Perpetual’s Balanced Fund, Conservative Growth Fund, Diversified Growth Fund and Split Growth Fund.

Michael joined Perpetual in October 2008. Prior to joining Perpetual worked for seven years at Watson Wyatt as an investment consultant providing investment strategy advice to some of Australia's largest institutional investors. Michael is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and has a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Law from the University of Queensland.

Cash and fixed income portfolios
Michael Korber Head of Credit, B.Ec
Michael has been Head of Credit since joining Perpetual in August 2004. He is responsible for the ongoing strategic review and development of process, reviewing the weekly credit process and reviewing the analysis of all new credit securities.

Michael has over 24 years industry experience and prior to joining Perpetual worked as the first Head of Credit at Macquarie Funds Management, spending six years developing its credit investment processes and building the business from inception to over $7 billion in funds under management. Prior to this, he spent seven years as Divisional Director in Corporate Banking and four years as second in charge to the Head of Macquarie Bank Credit. Earlier, he had spent five years as a Credit Analyst with Westpac Corporate Banking.
Vivek Prabhu Portfolio Manager/Credit Analyst, B.Bus (Acc & Fin), ICAA, SIA, MBA
Vivek has been Portfolio Manager/Credit Analyst since joining Perpetual Investments in August 2004 and is responsible for credit analysis, portfolio construction and trading.

Vivek has over 15 years industry experience and prior to joining Perpetual worked for eight years at Macquarie Bank as an Analyst, Compliance Manager, Assistant Portfolio Manager (Fixed Interest & Currency) and Credit Analyst. Prior to that he spent four years as an accountant/auditor at Coopers & Lybrand (PwC).
Greg Stock Portfolio Manager/Credit Analyst, B.Comm (Acc & Fin), ICAA, SIA, AFMA
Greg has been Portfolio Manager/Credit Analyst since joining Perpetual in August 2004. He is responsible for running the weekly credit process, researching non-structured issues (eg corporates, banks, infrastructure) and trades fixed rate securities.

Greg has over 14 years industry experience and prior to joining Perpetual worked at Macquarie Bank in financial operations, debt markets research and fixed income investment management. Prior to that he worked as an accountant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Mortgages
Marion Kraemer Head of Mortgages, Dip. Inst. Fin. Services

Marion has over 34 years industry experience and in her current role as Head of Mortgages, she is responsible for ensuring the assets in the various mortgage funds are prudently managed by the team and meet the appropriate benchmarks.

Marion joined Perpetual in 1989 to manage Perpetual’s fixed interest funds, including the mortgage fund, bond fund and cash management fund. Prior to joining Perpetual, she held positions at QBE Insurance and NSW Building Society.

Marion is Chair of the Credit Committee, a member of the Monthly Mortgage Risk Review Group and a member of the Business Management Team.

Andrew Polley Portfolio Manager, GBQ – Curtin University

Andrew has over 20 years industry experience and in his current role as Portfolio Manager, he is responsible for origination and portfolio management of a selection of our wholesale and institutional pooled mortgage funds as well as an institutional mandate.

Andrew joined Perpetual in 1994 as a Mortgage Manager responsible for New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. Prior to joining Perpetual, he held positions at Beneficial Banking Corporation, Chase AMP Bank and Westpac.

Andrew has a Graduate Business Qualification from Curtin University and is a member of the Credit Committee and a member of the Monthly Mortgage Risk Review Group.

Melvin Seeto Portfolio Manager, BA, B.Ec, Assoc. Dip Comm, SIA

Melvin has over 15 years industry experience and in his current role as a Portfolio Manager, he is responsible for origination and portfolio management of a selection of our wholesale and institutional pooled mortgage funds as well as an institutional mandate.

Melvin joined Perpetual in 2002 as a Mortgage Manager responsible for New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Prior to joining Perpetual, he held various positions at ING Funds Management.

Melvin has a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Economics, a Masters in Property Development and is a member of the Credit Committee and a member of the Monthly Mortgage Risk Review Group.
