Holistic advice for private clients

Holistic advice for private clients

Specialised financial advice that protects and grows your wealth

Financial advice that works for you. Today and tomorrow.

It doesn’t matter how you created your wealth, eventually, you’ll need answers to three questions. How do I protect that wealth? How do I grow it without taking the wrong kinds of risk? How do I manage it so it adds to my life but doesn’t take me away from the people I love, from my work and other interests?

Specialised financial advice can help. It can give you confidence about the future. It can make your life better today and stand the test of time. But it only works if there is a deep understanding of where you are now, what you want for yourself and your family, your attitudes to investing, to risk and much more. Working from that foundation, your Perpetual financial adviser can help you grow your wealth as your life and family changes, create your ideal retirement lifestyle and leave a legacy for the people and causes closest to your heart.

Strategic financial advice

Strategic advice is advice that considers a whole range of factors – your personal and family situation, current circumstances, your goals and attitudes to risk, spending and investment ethics. By working through all these issues with you, your Perpetual financial adviser can help you create a real financial plan – a roadmap that ensures every financial decision you make moves you closer to your goals. No more missed opportunities, no more regrettable last-minute decisions. A strategic approach to being wealthier, happier and more able to help those you care for.

Investment advice and management

You might want income, or growth or capital preservation. You might be investing for today, for tomorrow - or for someone else’s tomorrow.  Getting where you want to go is all about designing an investment strategy that is tuned to those needs. Then selecting and combining a range of investment options that will deliver on the strategy.

A broad array of investment choices gives you more chance of success. So our award-winning* investment team offer you multiple options to choose from or combine. Such as direct shares, managed funds (including ethical options), fixed income, real estate, alternative assets and exclusive investments not normally available to individuals (ie private equity, currency investment, commodities and more).

2019 and 2018: Best Multi Strategy Fund Winner Perpetual Private
2018: Best Alternative Investment Manager of the Year Winner Perpetual Private

Income, savings and debt management

We never lose sight of the “flow” of money that underpins your lifestyle. Your financial plan will always take account of your income needs and the cashflow you need to support your lifestyle (or to invest). We know that debt has the power to supercharge your gains and amplify your losses. So we’re always careful to build debt management into your financial plan.

Personal insurance

Unfortunately, things go wrong. You or your family may face death, illness, injury or loss of income. We can‘t protect you from that, but as part of our “protect and grow” strategy we can help protect your income and lifestyle should something go wrong. Our insurance strategies encompass life insurance, total and permanent disability, trauma insurance and income protection. Just as importantly, we tailor those insurances to be tax-effective, to work effectively together, to integrate with your investment and superannuation strategies and to adjust to your changing family and financial situation.

Why risk it? How specialist insurance makes all the difference?

Tax and accounting

Whether you’re thinking about your individual finances, your super fund, your business or charitable foundation, high quality accounting and tax advice can reduce your paperwork, compliance burden, tax bill and headaches. Perpetual is one of Australia’s oldest and most trusted financial institutions and that underpins the advice you receive on investments, insurance and super. Our specialist accounting company, Fordham, is one of Australia’s highest-rated accounting firms* with specialist expertise in working with business owners and managers.

And see how we can help protect and build your wealth

Your best interests at heart

Our investment philosophy is to protect and grow your wealth by carefully selecting suitable investments that reflect the level of risk you’re comfortable with, as well as your investment objectives. To achieve this, we diversify risk across asset classes, within asset classes, across countries and fund managers. We take a long-term approach to investing because we believe quality investments yield benefits in the long run. Our advisers and investment specialists have a high duty of care in developing portfolios and ensuring Perpetual’s stringent quality investment filters are met.

Our Investment Management page has more in-depth information and insight.

Perpetual is an ASX-listed, diversified financial services company which has been serving Australians since 1886 when it was established as a trustee company by a group of businessmen including Sir Edmund Barton, later to be Australia’s first Prime Minister. That trustee heritage – and the culture it created around putting clients first – is what makes Perpetual unique.

We have been earning the trust of our clients for more than 130 years and pride ourselves on our long-standing client relationships – some of which span five generations.

Trust is earned, every day.

Our approach to financial advice follows a proven methodology – we invest serious amounts of time talking to clients about their needs so we can truly understand where they are now and where they would like to be. We then develop a sophisticated financial plan with a transparent fee structure.

It is at this point that the breadth of the Perpetual service becomes important. We will direct you to a wide range of external service providers if we believe they will best meet your needs.

But within our walls we can also offer you access to specialists in investing (across all asset classes), superannuation, insurance, property, estate planning, philanthropy, business advisory services and tax and accounting. Everything you need to execute a financial plan that gets you to your goals - whether you’re an individual, a business owner, a not-for-profit or an indigenous community.

A crucial part of the overall strategy – whatever your aims – is regular, shared reviews to make sure your strategy stays on track and is adapted to your changing needs (and changes in the economy, legislation or investment markets).
